Maureen Wroblewitz Dresses to Express in 501® Jeans

To celebrate 150 years of the 501® Jean, we’re thrilled to partner up with beauty queen and actress Maureen Wroblewitz. Since becoming the first Filipina to win Asia’s Next Top Model in 2017, Maureen has become a role model and inspiration to many, using her platform to advocate for body positivity and mental health awareness.

We recently sat down with Maureen to talk about personal style, self-expression, and bringing out the best version of yourself through fashion.

How would you describe your fashion style and what inspires it?

I would say that most of my looks are definitely model off-duty but it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I’ll feel girly, other times I’ll choose to be more Y2K. I love going through Pinterest to get my fashion inspo.

How has your fashion style evolved over time, and what sparked those changes?

I had a very hard time finding my own style. I only started wearing what I liked when I was 14, before that I cared too much about what other people would think. I used to wear a lot of print and now I go more for black, white and brown because it’s easy to style. I love jackets so I usually style my outfits depending on my jackets. I love finding vintage jackets while going ukay ukay shopping. I would also say that social media has a big impact on my style. If I see an outfit I like, I try to recreate it and make it mine.

“I LOVE DRESSING UP BUT ON DAYS THAT I DON’T—WHICH IS MOST OF THE TIME—I’M ALWAYS IN DENIM.”

What role do you think fashion plays in self-expression and identity?

I think fashion is the best way to express yourself. You are the one creating your looks based on what you like and feel comfortable wearing. Yes we find inspiration from other people but at the end of the day we still decide on what we wear. Dress to impress? More like dress to express.

How would you style your 501® Jeans?

I love wearing my 501’s as simple as possible. I’d style it wearing a crop top and sneakers. If I wanted to go more smart-casual, I’d change my shoes into heeled boots and add a jacket or blazer.

I feel most like myself when I wear my Levi’s®. I love dressing up but on days that I don’t—which is most of the time—I’m always in denim.

What advice would you give to someone who is trying to find their own unique fashion style?

I would say to look at different styles and see what feels the most like you, a style that you would be comfortable wearing. Then try out different looks and see how you feel. It’s all about experimenting and taking note of which brings out the best version of you, the most authentic you.
